SPARTAN CHAMBER
Spartan Chamber is a functional fitness facility and gym designed by a Royal Marines Commando to help facilitate an enjoyable yet highly effective method of training.
The Brief
Ryan Atkins, founder of Spartan Chamber contacted us during lockdown following his acquisition of the unit next door to his established fitness facility. With plans to expand his business and planning permission on the new unit pending, Ryan was searching for a local manufacturing partner that could respond to his brief of updating his current facility whilst designing a new space to suite in with and complement it next door!
Ryan had a clear vision for what he needed to achieve with the new unit, and in contrast to his original space where it was tricky to run group functional fitness classes, his overall objective was to create a functional fitness training space with as much clear floorspace as possible to accommodate fitness classes and weightlifting sessions for members. Specifying a rig that would run the full length of one wall, with as many integrated squat racks as possible enabled a good ratio of squat racks and pull up bars per class member.
The Design
We designed and installed a rig of 11 metres long featuring 4 squat stations spanning the length of one wall. It was placed 1m from the wall to preserve as much floor space as possible with 2 uprights of 5m high so athletes could practice rope climbs at competition height. Custom branded lifting platforms were integrated into the 20mm rubber matting supplied and installed by Moduflex Custom Rigs.
We added wall-mounted bumper plate storage and barbell storage alongside our flagship ‘Hornsby’ mobile storage unit to keep wall balls, dumbbells and kettlebells neat and tidy.
